About Us

Vasco Sports Club (VSC) is a football club from the port city of Vasco in South Goa, India.

A Portuguese Background.
Vasco Sports Club had its original beginnings way back in 1951 (while the Portuguese were still ruling over Goa). That football overcomes boundaries too, was proved when the Portuguese garrison commander Mr. Tenente Avila stationed in Vasco, along with the local residents formed a football club called Clube de Desportos Vasco da Gama. Over the years the Club has won dozens of trophies and league titles.

Cut to 2010:
Given that most of the officials of Vasco Sports Club were also runners, in 2010, Vasco Sports Club also began organising a marathon in the name of 'Goa River Marathon'. This "by runners for runners" marathon soon became one of the top 10 marathons in India and also, the most fun-to-particiapte marathon replete with live music and beer to celeberate the completion of each event.

With over a decade of experience in organizing marathons, Goa River Marathon just keeps getting better and better.
